Zetafax FoIP Connector [SR140 Edition]

Eliminate internal phone connections.

With the architecture of standard fax servers relying on physical connections to the office PBX, a switch to VoIP should deliver the ability to eliminate any internal phone connections.
Most PBXs will not cater for physical phone lines to which you could connect a TDM fax card but even if you use one of the few that do, this is a less than optimum solution and impacts the ROI of the new VoIP system. To
address this issue you can now migrate fax to an entirely software based solution with a Zetafax FoIP Connector.

Reduce admin overhead

Because Zetafax can send and receive faxes using IP rather than traditional modems or fax adapter cards it is very simple to manage in an IP environment. Because there is no hardware, no updates are required to the PBX and the admin overhead is reduced because management of faxing becomes part of the IP infrastructure.

Support for T.38 gateways

For companies without a compatible phone system, the Zetafax FoIP Connector also supports a range of standalone T.38 gateways. These are connected directly to the Local Area Network (LAN), and to one or more phone lines. They are available for BRI and PRI digital lines as well as for analog lines.

Choice of editions

The Zetafax FoIP Connector is available in two different editions, offering two levels of performance and price. The SR140 Edition uses market-leading Brooktrout SR140 technology from Dialogic, for the highest levels of performance and interoperability. This supports a wide range of phone systems and gateways, and has been accredited for use with leading phone systems.

The Standard Edition provides a more costeffective solution for use with selected standalone gateways. It is designed for use in smaller virtualized server systems where third
party accreditation is not required.

Configuration
The Zetafax FoIP Connector is installed and configured in the same way as an intelligent fax board.

Conversion of T.38 to T.30
The Zetafax FoIP Connector uses the T.38 protocol to ‘packet’ fax communication for transmission over the IP network. This therefore enables the Zetafax server to communicate with a Fax over IP (FoIP or T.38) compatible phone system via the local area network, allowing faxes to be sent to, and received from, traditional fax machines over the PSTN (T.30). This removes the need to connect phone lines directly to the Zetafax Server computer, or to reconfigure hardware when moving the server to a different computer (e.g. for failover systems). If you do not have an IP PBX you can also enable this capability via a standalone T.38 gateway.
